How to really connect to your customers?
This is a copy of a post I’ve just put up on our travel blog: Up Sticks And Go. As its relevant for business I’ve added it here also – enjoy 🙂 We’ve just moved from Cambodia/Vietnam to Bangkok and theres one thing missing … that lack of this thing (so far) has reminded me that I wanted to write about the importance of knowing who your market is. What is the thing thats missing here? Hawkers… There may be heaps of them in other places around Bangkok, but so far we’ve not encountered any. I understand that they are just...

I am sorry but this is going to be a bit of a rant – I’ll try and keep it short, but I need to get it off my chest! In the last couple of days I’ve seen a particular sign in a few shops here in Kuala Lumpur, the Up Sticks And Go crews current abode 🙂 They have reminded me about a post I’ve been meaning to write in for our business coaching club! In my opinion these sign show such ignorance of the potential your customers have to market for you. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of the signs,...

Today we recorded a quick webinar in the car! It was going to be live tonight BUT we are not sure what our internet speed will be like when we get to our camping spot (somewhere between the SA/Vic border and Adelaide), so rather than maybe disappoint you this is one we prepared earlier 😉 Please leave comments below – we would really like to hear what your content ideas are? Plus any thing else you’d like us to talk about? We’d love you to join us in the Michon Business Coaching Club – where you can get all your...

We have just come back from a long weekend on the West Coast of Tasmania, specifically at Couta Rocks. We were staying at a friends shack which sits right on the waters edge and when you add to that the gorgeous sunny weather, it was a little like heaven. Our friends neighbours just happens to be a cray fisherman which not only meant we where treated to a couple of feeds of my favourite food, but we also got to spend a few hours on the boat watching them pull the pots in and then put them out again. The deckhand and the skipper had it all...

This week we ran our first marketing planning workshop for 2014 – it went amazingly well with everyone raving about what they learnt and how priceless the group exercises were to brainstorm ‘new’ idea for their 2014 marketing planning! Now they know just what they need to do for the next 49 weeks 🙂 I decided to make this workshop a little special, so although I had organised lunch I wanted morning and afternoon tea to be more than a packet of bikkies! In the kitchen I went, and out came chocolate brownies, white chocolate...

Ok, so this is a short (actually its not that short ;-)) re-count about something that happened to me this week – something that could have been one of the worst days of not just my life, but my kids, my extended family and a bunch of other people that were around… It was a beautiful sunny summers day, so we decided to go to a river beach to swim with the visiting mainland cousins. It was also a bonus that the cousins grand-dad has a boat! That meant a boat ride and a pretty awesome platform for jumping into the river. The day went...

I have some great news! You may not know this but it has been against Facebook’s terms and services to run competitions on your Facebook Business Page – as of yesterday this is no longer the case. Facebook have announced that you can run competitions on your business page and not just through a third party app. https://www.facebook.com/facebookforbusiness/news/page-promotions-terms I know many of you have been running competitions on your page but you were running a great risk of losing your business page and all those likes...

We’re on our way to present an online marketing workshop in Latrobe tonight. The room will be filled with local businesses from in and around Latrobe/Devonport. I’ve been thinking about what the main theme of our presentation should be – what do I want people to leave remembering. In other words if they only retain one thing from tonight what should it be? I think I’d like them to understand the important of “really knowing your market” !! – Who is your client? – Where do they hang out in the...

Yesterday was one of those days when working for your self is all worth it! You see we received a lovely unsolicited testimonial from the equally lovely and talented Belinda Fettke (BPhotography). It was so lovely, we decided to share it here on our website 🙂 “I am constantly inspired by the mentoring Simon and Michelle Frost have given me in developing my small businesses. I can’t thank them, nor recommend them highly enough!! If you need help to pull your small business into the 21st Century and gain the benefits of an online...

Last night we were lucky enough to present a Social Media workshop to an enthusiastic group of local business people in Latrobe, Tasmania. This workshop was put on by Devonport’s Business and Employment and was attended by 30 – 40 people. We have been doing these workshops around Tasmania for over 4 years now and its amazing just how far we have come as a community and the way we engage with the web and in particular Social Media. I remember asking similar audiences 4 years ago, “who has a Facebook account (a personal...
