Adwords
The Google Adwords Ad’s show up when someone searches for a particular thing using a Google search OR on Google advertising partner sites. You as the business ‘bid’ on a keyword/search term that is relevant to your product or service and then your ad will only appear to people already looking for what it is you have to offer. This way any clicks that you get are from people that are actually interested & actively searching for things related to your product or service.
Search Engine Optimisation also plays a role in Google Adwords, you see Google only wants to send its clients (the people searching) to ‘relevant’ pages, whether that be in natural search or paid search. Your website page, your Google Adwords advertisement & the keywords you bid for, all need to be relevant or Google will not show your Ad. Facebook advertising is similar to Google Adwords, in that you pay per click, but it also lends its self to more creativity and targeting. When advertising in Facebook you can target loads of things including by geographical location, by age, by sex, marital status, education and most importantly by hobby/interest. Imagine if you sold fly fishing lures – you can make an advertisement that will only show to people on Facebook who live in Tasmania and who have put fly fishing in their profile as a hobby/interest. Surely anyone who clicks on your Facebook Ads would be more likely to actually buy your lures.
Pictures can also be used to great advantage in Facebook advertising – a picture tells a thousand words. There are a number of tricks to using pictures in your Facebook advertising which we can help you employ effectively to increase your click through rate. “Understanding” who your customer is, is vitally important when advertising in Facebook – if you know things like your typical customers age, sex, marital status and hobbies, you can be super effective when advertising to them.
